GCSE whizzes

GCSE RESULTS: THREE maths whizz-kids are celebrating after passing their GCSE exams after sitting them early.
Luqman Mahmood (11), from Clarksfield, and Aakesh Ahmed (14), from Glodwick, both collected B grades.
And completing the trio is, as reported in Friday’s Chronicle, Waqaar Mahmood (11). Waqaar, who has just left Clarksfield Primary School, only 10 when he sat the exam but still managed to achieve a C-grade.
All three boys have been under the wing of after-school tutor Neelam Aqil (27), a chartered accountant, who set up A-Star Tuition three years ago while looking after her children.
Neelam, based in Clarksfield, said: “All of them have worked really hard. They even took mock exams during the half-term, before the GCSE exams.
“Aakash’s memory is phenomenal and showing a real gift in English and Luqman has really blossomed.
“I teach children to their ability, not their age — schools should use this approach more.”
Waaqar’s mother, Robina Mahmood, added: “I am so proud of him.”
