GCSE RESULTS: HULME Grammar School’s principal was over the moon after seeing his A* - C pass rate rise again this year — to a staggering 95 per cent.

But what pleased Dr Paul Neeson most was the number of passes in English - with only one failure out of 118.

Of everyone who took maths, 54 per cent gained an A* or A grade. The top achievers included Amy Morris (9A*, 1A) Amy Thompson (8A*, 2A); Robert Thackeray (7A*, 3A) Naomi Higginson (6A*, 4A); Jessica Whitworth (5A*, 5A); and Ria Saraf (8A*, 1A).
