PRINCE EDWARD: Mahdlo visit in October
MAHDLO, Oldham’s £5million “youth zone”, will receive Royal approval with an official opening by Prince Edward.
The Earl of Wessex will be at the Horsedge Street centre on October 2.
The royal seal of approval is a major coup for the town-centre complex.
Mahdlo opened to users in March and hundreds of young people use it every week.
Norman Stoller, who gave fund-raising a kickstart with a £250,000 donation and has been a leading light of the campaigbn to build the centre, said: “With five months gone and bordering on 2,000 members signed in, I have every confidence that what I said Mahdlo would be and do will turn out to be understated.
“We are looking forward to showing our royal visitor just how far Oldham is going to secure the confidence and future of our citizens of tomorrow.”
After meeting civic and Mahdlo leaders, Prince Edward will tour the building and see demonstrations of the many activities on offer.
Afterwards the prince is expected to unveil a plaque to mark his visit.
