SUSPECT . . . Anthony Morrison has been on the run since being named as a suspect in a Shaw armed robbery
A SUSPECTED armed robber who escaped from police at Manchester Airport has been caught after being admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound.
According to a police source, Anthony Morrison (33), who allegedly robbed the Asda store in Shaw last year, was dumped at North Manchester General Hospital on Sunday night.
It is thought he had been shot in the chest, before being taken to hospital in a dark-coloured BMW at about 9.30pm. The car headed off towards Crumpsall and has since been traced. The source said: “The incident happened in Middleton and he was dropped off at hospital in North Manchester.
“It was a dispute between him and another man. It was domestic and not connected to any other shooting.”
Morrison, thought to be in a serious but stable condition, is now under police guard in hospital. He has been on the run since the armed robbery at Asda last October. In July, this year, he agreed to talk to officers from Greater Manchester Police and flew from Amsterdam to Manchester Airport to meet them.
But he fled from Terminal 3 and made his getaway, while police waited for him in Terminal 1.
