AN Uppermill man who dedicated his working life to the NHS is set to be honoured by former colleagues who will name a new health centre after him.
Ian Hazlehurst (52) died suddenly from a heart-related illness in January after working for the NHS for 28 years, most recently as a senior manager for Kirklees Primary Care Trust.
Today is the official opening of the Hazlehurst Centre, a joint venture with West Yorkshire Police.
A spokesman for the PCT said: “Those who worked with Ian valued his commitment and his willingness to support managers and staff throughout the organisation. He was known as a kind and caring man.”
Ian’s wife Sue said she is proud his work has been recognised in a way that would leave a lasting reminder of his dedication and commitment.
“It’s nice to know his efforts were appreciated,” said Sue.
