FCHO gas-blast bill — £60,000 and rising
Date published: 31 August 2012
THE Shaw gas explosion has cost First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) £60,000 in repairs — and the bill could rise further.
FCHO, which runs Oldham’s council housing, suffered damage to five of its properties close to the explosion. Two months later, the housing organisation is continuing to support those affected.
All but one of have now returned to their homes or rehoused.
Though the damage was predominantly to windows, doors and roofs, the £60,000 could rise as one of the homes suffered significant structural damage.
