Moors spade find dismissed
Date published: 04 September 2012
POLICE say they are satisfied that a rusty spade found on Saddleworth Moor is of no assistance in finding Keith Bennett’s body.
The tool, with its handle broken off, was found under about 6in of peat and soil by members of Worsley Paranormal Group, who called for DNA tests to be carried out, saying it could lead police to Keith’s burial place.
But after a police examination, it was passed on for further forensic tests at Manchester Met University where staff were unable to trace its history.
Keith’s mum Winnie Johnson was buried last week after spending 50 years appealing to Brady to reveal the whereabouts of her son.
