Adam’s amazing wedding vow after miracle recovery
LESS than 12 months have passed since the day Adam McQuillan was knocked down in an horrific road accident and lay in a coma for 10 weeks.
Adam, now nine, has since astounded doctors with his recovery following the accident in Abbeyhills Road in September 2011. The plucky youngster spent six months in hospital in total.
The amazing youngster is now preparing for his role as ring bearer at his mother’s wedding on Friday.
Mum Anita McQuillan (31) is overjoyed at her son’s progress.
“We didn’t think he would ever be able to do a lot of things he can do already. We have been told he will keep recovering for at least another year. He’s amazing.”
He is excited at his role at his mum’s wedding to Adam Claxton.
She said: “The registrar will ask Adam’s permission for us to marry — he keeps having me on, saying he will say no.”
Adam’s accident happened as he walked to a shop near his home in Coverham Avenue, Roundthorn.
Anita said; “We had little hope for his recovery, but now we can see the possibility he will walk and talk again,” she said.
Adam is now a pupil at Kingfisher School, where he gets extra help. But his mother is aiming for him to go back to Delph School.
In October, Adam will go to Disneyland with the children’s charity Destination Florida, after he was nominated by medical staff at Manchester Children’s Hospital.
“I know I nearly lost Adam and things have changed forever, but he is here and I have got to be grateful for what I have got,” said Anita
