Park could make way for parked cars

Grassy Westwood Park could soon disappear under the Tarmac of a new car park
PARKING pressure for Royal Oldham Hospital workers could be relieved if planners give the go-ahead for a new 562-space car park on Westwood Park.
The council-owned land, described in a planning application as a “former public park,” lies at the rear of the hospital site.
If proposals get the green light, it will move a step closer to becoming a staff car park, offering more convenient parking for workers who currently park on Oldham Athletc land.
If the application gets the go-ahead, negotiations for the trust to buy the land from the council will continue and if successful, the car park will have access off Westhulme Avenue.
