Nick vows more music, less chat

OLDHAM DJ Nick Grimshaw has pledged to double the amount of music played when he takes over the Radio 1 breakfast show later this month.
The 28–year–old takes over when Chris Moyles leaves the landmark show after eight and a half years next Friday.
A station source said the new–look show would see the number of songs increase double to around eight to 10 and hour.
Grimshaw, known for his posse of celebrity pals including Lily Allen, Alexa Chung, Miquita Oliver and Harry Styles from One Direction, was a surprise choice for many. He makes his first full appearance on September 24.
And Grimshaw will present the programme on his own: Radio 1 boss Ben Cooper wants to get away from the “zoo” format of Moyles, in which his production team played a large part.
Grimshaw was raised in Royton and attending Our Lady’s High School. He started broadcast as a student at Liverpool University. He worked at MTV and Channel 4 before co–hosting the BBC2 music show Sound with DJ Annie Mac and joining on Radio 1
