LILY STRONG: 100th birthday
A former Hollinwood cotton mill worker was today celebrating her 100th birthday.
Lily Strong was born in Hollinwood in 1912 and has never left the area.
She married twice, initially to Harry in 1934, then to Joe in 1974.
She had a keen interest in sewing, reading and writing but poor sight means she can no longer do many of the things she once enjoyed.
She will celebrate her birthday with family at the weekend at a party organised by her nephew, Mal-colm. She said of her special birthday: “I’m very excited.”
