Police are on the hunt for some of Greater Manchester’s most wanted petty villains.
As part of the month-long Operation Harvest, GMP will also raid scrap metal dealers to clamp down on the illegal sale of scrap metal, cables and other stolen or valuable materials.
Police are calling on the public to help with the operation, which starts today, by visiting www.gmp.police.uk to look at photos and details of wanted offenders and pass on information on them.
Police will work with engineers from telecoms, electricity, water and tram and train networks searching suspect scrap yards for metals that may have been stolen from their networks.
Five Oldham criminals join the “wanted” list of 35 across the county.
Their crimes range from assault to abduction.
They are:
::Heather Denham (34), assault on March 4, 2012, at an address in Villa Road, Oldham.
::Kashif Ghafoor (32), supply of class-A drugs on August 1, 2011 at an address in Warcock Road, Oldham.
::Patrick Hamnett (41), theft of paving slabs on January 7, 2012 at an address in Kirkfell Walk, Oldham.
::Lalmahmed Momahm (21), abduction of a 15-year-old girl on March 17, 2012 at an address in Cook Street, Oldham. She was later found safe and well.
::Kamile Samdale (26), failure to attend court for drugs offences on June 10, 2011, at an address in Park Road, Oldham.
Assistant Chief Constable Terry Sweeney said: “Through Operation Harvest we are concentrating on bringing to justice the criminals that cause the most harm and misery to people.
“I would urge people to provide information. Ring us direct on 101 or tell Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111.”
