DISCARDED condoms, beer cans and chewing gum ruined a trip to the park for James Cockayne and his four-year-old daughter Edith.
James (39) was disgusted to see the play area at St Chad’s Park, Uppermill strewn with litter on Saturday morning.
“St Chad’s is a lovely park so it was really disappointing to see it in such a terrible state.
“My daughter has been brought up to always put litter in the bin and she is too young to realise what the rubbish was. But she knew it shouldn’t have been on the floor,” said London-dweller James, home in Saddleworth visiting relatives.
“I used to use the park a lot but I don’t think I’ll bother next time I visit. It was disgusting.”
Councillor Jean Stretton said: “St Chad’s gardens and play area is visited regularly. There are over 100 sites that need cleaning each day and it is not possible to be at every play area first thing in the morning. “
