Police arrest ‘Cyprus’ fugitive in Somerset

A SUSPECTED rapist who was thought to have fled to Cyprus has been found in the UK.
Paul Lockwood (41) was wanted in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl in Oldham in the 1980s.
Police believed he was hiding out abroad, but he was arrested in Somerset on Friday morning, where he admitted living and working for more than a year.
Lockwood, a former soldier, appeared in court charged on three counts of raping a girl under 16 and one of indecent assault on a girl under 14.
The charges relate to allegded offences between 1984 and 1988.
Lockwood was committed to crown court until October 1 and was bailed on condition he reports to police every day, Monday to Friday, and surrenders his passport.
