Snakes were killed and a woman hospitalised in this flat fire
AROUND 20 pet snakes have been killed in a fierce blaze in a flat in Chadderton.
Fire ripped through the first-floor apartment in Middleton Road at 4.15am today, leaving the female occupant in hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation. Of her collection of reptiles only an albino corn snake survived the blaze.
Chadderton Red Watch commander Peter Marshall said the woman, who was covered in thick soot after fleeing the home, was “very lucky to be alive”.
