We aren’t late payers, council claims
Date published: 14 September 2012
OLDHAM Council has hit back at claims it was the only Greater Manchester authority to shun research into how quickly it pays invoices.
The council says it not only responded to the Forum of Private Business’s survey, but has one of the quickest payment times in Greater Manchester.
The forum asked the 10 Greater Manchester councils to say how quickly they paid suppliers. Oldham’s average payment time was 13.25 days – marginally behind fastest payer Rochdale, which takes 11.5 days. Stockport was worst with 30 days.
Oldham settles almost two thirds of its bills within a 10-day target nominally set by the government.
