CONCERNS about Oldham’s traffic problems led council leader Jim McMahon to admit that “we have been let down.”
Locals submitted questions at last night’s meeting about the problems which have hit Oldham’s highways in recent months.
Steven Ferguson asked: “How much longer will the traffic chaos last?”
Councillor Hibbert responded: “We are working with Transport for Greater Manchester to plan for incidents, but we can’t plan for everything.”
The issue was later brought up by Councillor Sykes, who criticised safety issues around Mumps Metrolink station, as highlighted by the Chronicle last month.
But Councillor McMahon said: “What I can say is that there’s no-one here pleased about the way that Metrolink work has gone. It’s not great, it’s not great at all.”
He continued: “People are being paid a lot of money to do that and we are being let down.
“Has everything been done to our liking? No.”.
