Oldham Town Hall - planning decision on Wednesday
PLANS to turn Oldham town hall into a leisure complex go to Oldham Council Planning Committee on Wednesday.
The Grade II Yorkshire Street building could house cafes, restaurants and a cinema in the plans — already unofficially approved by members of the public at an open exhibition.
A council spokesman said: “As the old town hall is an important historic building with Grade II listed status, the Planning Committee will make its decision then the application will be referred to the Secretary of State. This is expected to take around four months.”
Several alternative suggestions for the hall were made, but plans were limited by the need to keep changes to the structure to a minimum. The plans must also give the building a financially viable future.
