Tracy’s devotion to rugby is honoured

LIFELONG Oldham Rugby League fan Tracy Bradley was lost for words when she was announced as the first winner of a new club trophy.

Tracy (52), from Lydgate, was named the club’s 2012 “unsung heroine” for her continuing support for the club despite a personal battle with cancer.

Presenting the trophy at the first team’s end-of-season presentation night, club chairman Chris Hamilton said: “She’s fighting a serious illness and on regular chemotherapy - but it hasn’t stopped her giving the club inspirational support all season.

The Fred Laughton Memorial Trophy was presented to Tracy by two of her favourite players, loose-forward Alex Thompson and stand-off Jamie Dallimore.

She said later: “I was overwhelmed. Everybody who knows me won’t need telling that something like this means the absolute world to me. I’ve been a fan since I was a small girl.”
