CONGESTION on the Manchester Street roundabout will undergo a “sea change” today and tomorrow when new traffic regulations are implemented.
Major changes have been put into place today, with the reopening of the Manchester Street exit.
However, works will now begin on the opposite side of the carriageway.
As a result, traffic leaving Oldham via Manchester Street will be diverted to follow the King Street/Union Street junction.
The new arrangements are set to be in place for six to eight weeks.
Tomorrow will see more changes, with a new lane set to be opened through the centre of the roundabout in the early hours of the morning.
It will allow traffic coming from Manchester to turn right on to Oldham Way towards Mumps.
The new lane will be signal-controlled and should make journeys quicker.
