‘Be positive’ call over anti-Islam film reaction
Date published: 28 September 2012
APPEALS for a peaceful response will be made in local mosques after an anti-Islam film sparked violence across the world.
Oldham Council of Mosques (OMC) has joined other worldwide in condemning the US-made video “Innocence of Muslims” for inciting religious hatred.
The group says action needs to be taken at international level — and local communities should respond by working together to foster understanding. It has confirmed it will not be staging a protest.
The OMC consists of 35 mosques and madrassas and represents more than 27,000 local muslims.
