A SUPERMARKET delivery driver has been hailed a hero for helping save a customer’s life.
Quick-thinking Karl Wild (28) stopped a 48-year-old customer from falling into a diabetic coma.
Karl, from Failsworth, was on his rounds last Tuesday morning, when he became concerned for regular customer Peter Dunne (48).
Deliveries to Mr Dunne’s Egerton Street home had been attempted three times before Karl arrived, at around 10.20am and realised the events were unusual.
“I called police and explained he was a regular customer and it wasn’t like him not to be in.
“I had a look through the letter box and realised something was really wrong, so I called the police again.”
They found him having a hypoglycaemic attack, which rendered him unable to reach food or cal for help.
Paramedics took Mr Dunne to hospital, where he is now recovering.
Helen Tindle, Iceland’s people director, said: “We are very proud of Karl and his quick thinking.”
