A LANDLORD who fell victim to shoplifters is urging Oldham businesses to be on their guard.
Geoff Haigh of the Ram’s Head, Denshaw, has warned borough traders to be on the lookout following the theft of £300 worth of stock from his upmarket delicatessen, alongside the pub.
He said: “A woman appeared at the door and buzzed to be let in. Two other women came straight in behind her. I have someone in the shop permanently, but I thought something wasn’t right so I came downstairs myself. By that time they had already got what they wanted.”
One of the women had bought a can of coke and carrots and all three immediately left. A stock check revealed several missing bottles of expensive drinks.
He warns that several businesses around Ripponden have been hit in a similar way in recent weeks.
He continued: “I’m sure it won’t be the last time they do this in the area.”
