Power giant takes flak over street lighting
Date published: 28 September 2012
POWER giant E.ON came under fire from councillors over a lack of communication with residents over new street lighting.
Councillor Derek Heffernan listed complaints that included contractors ignoring residents’ warnings of phone cables under where they were digging — which resulted in a broken cable and many phones going off, and contractors putting posts in the middle of access to a resident’s driveway
But a spokesman for E.ON respnded that permission for the driveway hadn’t been requested at the time his contractors were working, and that he was happy to sort out the problem.
He added that he hadn’t heard any report of his men causing telephone problems
Anyone keen to contact E.ON over the issue can contact 0800 0150 0452 or email john.mc auley@oldham.gov.uk
