BABAR ALI: changed plea
A MAN who raped a 16-year-old girl has been jailed for four and a half years.
Babar Ali (46), whose own long-term girlfriend was pregnant with their child at the time, assaulted the teenager at a flat in Oldham.
The distressed youngster was unable to fight him off.
Jailing him at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Judge Adrian Smith said he accepted it had not been planned, but said: “You must have had in mind the prospect of a sexual encounter.
“You were aware that she had been drinking vodka and put herself in a vulnerable position. She did not want intercourse, and you made her.”
The court heard that when the teenage college student complained to the police, Ali, who also uses the name Zakir Miah, had vehemently denied having sex with her and said she was lying — even in the face of forensic evidence. He pleaded guilty on the day of his trial.
