The coffin of Pc Fiona Bone is carried from Manchester Cathedral following her funeral service.
Police and public mourners turned out in force for the second time yesterday for the funeral of PC Fiona Bone (32) - killed in a gun and grenade attack in Hattersley last month alongside her colleague Nicola Hughes.
Manchester’s Deansgate was lined with thousands of officers from across the UK and members of the public as the cortege traveled to the cathedral.
PC Bone’s parents, Paul and Jane, sister Vicky, Fiona’s partner Clare and Clare’s daughter Jessie led mourners into the church.
Among the 1,000 people inside the cathedral were senior officers from all 43 forces in England and Wales, and PC Bone’s friends and colleagues from Tameside division.
Sgt Stephen Miskell told the congregation that PC Bone was “a perfect police officer, wonderful at keeping colleagues’ spirits high with her bubbly nature.”
Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy, said that like PC Hughes, Fiona’s “great sacrifice” would not be forgotten.
