Royal award for caring teenagers
Date published: 12 October 2012
THREE Saddleworth School pupils rubbed shoulders with royalty when they received a special award last night.
The Duke of Cambridge presented the first charity award named in his honour — the SkillForce Prince’s Award — to the three Oldham teenagers who worked on community projects with the SkillForce charity, ahead of a gala dinner at St James’s Palace.
Noah Levins (15) Teegan Cowley–Merrington (15) and Lee Booth (16) took part in a 24–hour challenge.
The boys turned derelict ground into an outside area for disabled children.
The educational charity, of which Prince William is patron, works with 10,000 young people in 150 schools in the UK who are in danger of leaving school without useful skills and qualifications.
