Laser pen shone at police ’copter
Date published: 16 October 2012
A 17-year-old boy who shone a laser pen at a police helicopter on patrol has been given a six-month referral order.
The boy, who cannot be named, shone the pen from his bedroom window and the pilot, who had to avert his eyes, relayed his position to colleagues on the ground.
The boy admitted acting in a manner likely to endanger a person in an aircraft.
Oldham Magistrates ordered the pen be destroyed and ordered the defendant to pay £85 costs.
