Margaret dies at 103
Date published: 16 October 2012
Greenacres-born great grandmother Margaret Monk has died at the age of 103.
Margaret had lived independently until reaching 100, then moved into Royton care home Dryclough Manor.
The former manager of Waddington’s tobacconists in Huddersfield Road, Oldham, left that job at the age of 70 — to help run a jewellery stall on Tommyfield Market for another 10 years.
Margaret married James Monk in 1952 and had two stepchildren, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Her funeral takes place at Oldham Crematorium on Monday (11am).
