Closed factory back in business
Date published: 19 October 2012
COUNCILLORS have approved plans for the closed Warburton bakery in Shaw to be turned into smaller industrial units.
Concerns about parking, deliveries and congesion aside, councillors welcomed plans to bring the factory site back to life.
The plans were approved on the condition that windows fitted to the Rochdale Road side of the building use obscured glass, to avoid invading the privacy of residents.
Councillor John Hudson said: “I saw the outcry when jobs were lost as the factory closed, and I have seen everybody jumping for joy when they saw there were going to be companies coming into the building.
“Officers mut make sure local people know what will be going on all the time, then residents will not be worried.”
