Date published: 19 October 2012
A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of an 84-year-old man last seen alive travelling through Shaw.
Police found Vincent Kershaw dead from head injuries at home in Willows Lane, Milnrow, on Sunday.
Mr Kershaw was last seen on October 4; police are keen to trace his movements during that day.
Det-Insp Iain Butler, from the Major Incident Team, said: “There are a number of lines of inquiry. At this stage we cannot rule out robbery. Mr Kershaw was known to carry large quantities of cash and there was no sign of his wallet.
“He was seen collecting his pension at Milnrow Post Office on Dale Street at 10am on October 4 and was seen buying groceries at Tesco Express on Dale Street at 1pm.
“If anyone saw Mr Kershaw that day, please phone the police. The information you have, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, may be vital.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 2027 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
