Remploy factory up for sale
Date published: 23 October 2012
THE former Remploy factory in Bardsley is on the market.
Production closed at the factory in August with around 100 workers losing their jobs.
Of the 1,421 disabled Remploy staff lost at factories across the UK, only 35 have found jobs, a minister has admitted.
Esther McVey, the new Minister for Disabled People, said in a Commons debate: “So far to date, 35 staff immediately found work.
“But we are content that with the support, the packages and the monitoring that we are hoping to provide for everyone, we will get that number up as soon as possible.”
