Nicola Hughes: family overwhelmed by public response to her death
THE family of tragic Diggle PC Nicola Hughes has thanked the public for its support following the death of their daughter while on duty.
The former Diggle Primary and Saddleworth School pupil was killed last month when she attended a bogus burglary call in Hattersley with colleague PC Fiona Bone.
Nicola’s mum Susan, dad Bryndon, their partners Michael and Natalie, brother Samuel and his partner Natalie and Nicola’s boyfriend Gareth said: “Our sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who has supported our family following the death of our beloved Nicola. The level of support shown to us as a family has been overwhelming and heartwarming.
“Greater Manchester Police has been extremely supportive during the past four weeks and continues to be. The amount of support by other police forces would have made Nicola immensely proud.
“We would like to thank everyone who has paid tribute, sent cards and flowers and messages of support or merely stood at the roadside and demonstrated dignity and respect.”
