POLICE are hunting two “pathetic cowards” who attacked a Parkinson’s Disease sufferer with a glass bottle.

The victim was hit over the head with the object after asking the pair for a light.

The 41 year old asked the question as they walked past his home on Wastwater Street, Higginshaw at around 3am on Saturday.

After ignoring him, he asked again and one confronted him.

When the victim said he was disabled and didn’t want trouble, one of the attackers hit him on the head with the bottle. A deep cut and other injuries were treated in hospital.

The attacker is white, aged 23-28, 5ft 5in-6ft 2in tall with short blond hair.

Detective Constable Andrew Swettenham, of Oldham CID, said: “These pathetic cowards picked on this man because he was different.

“I want people to help us out: did you see two men on this street in the early hours that morning? Or have you heard people making sick boasts about attacking a disabled man?”

Call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8982, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
