Music marathon returns to Oldham
Date published: 26 October 2012
Oldham music lovers will get to mix with soul legends from America at the return in January of Souldham.
Motown star Pat Lewis will be among artists coming to the event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
The soul extravaganza previously ran in 2007, when 650 music fans took part. This year the event running time will be increased from 12 hours to 16 across two large rooms.
Organiser Fay Jones said: “I was asked would I like to do another Souldham for the current mayor and I knew it had to be bigger and better than the last one.
“We have sold tickets around the world. People are coming from the around the USA, Canada, France, Germany and Italy as well as Britain.”
On the line-up are US soul favourites Spyder Turner and Darryl Grant, with an eight-piece backing band.
A total of 24 UK Northern Soul DJs will all be giving their services free, and there will be an England versus Scotland Battle of the DJs.
Tickets - £15 in advance or £17 on the door - are selling fast. Info www.souldham2.co.uk..
