Man ‘helped trio flee’
Date published: 01 November 2012
A CHADDERTON man has appeared in court charged with helping Dale Cregan and others - knowing they were wanted for murder.
Ahmed Imran Ali (32), of Denton Lane, was flanked by four police officers during a two-minute hearing before Manchester City magistrates yesterday.
It was alleged he had transported Cregan, Anthony Wilkinson and Jermaine Ward to West Yorkshire on August 10 to evade arrest.
Ali, who only spoke to give his name and address, will appear via video link at Manchester Crown Court this afternoon and at Liverpool Crown Court on November 5 on other matters.
Cregan has been charged with the murder of David Short (46), of Clayton, on August 10, and his son, Mark, shot dead in the Cotton Tree Pub, in Droylsden, on May 25.
Wilkinson (33), from Beswick, and Ward (24) have also been charged with Mark Short’s murder.
