THE skies over Oldham will be awash with colour on Monday night as families enjoy a night of firework-filled fun.
Boundary Park will host the free Bonfire Night event — back with a bang after a 10-year break.
Gates open at 6pm and visitors can enjoy The Wrong Size’s Stiltwalkers who will keep the crowds entertained.
The first FlameOz display — a multi award-winning fireshow from professionals mixing dance, balance and fire manipulation — starts at 6.30 and the bonfire will be lit at 7.
There will be another FlameOz show at 7.30 followed by the fantastic fireworks finale at 8.15.
The spectacular display will include gold-tailed comets, sky-filling starbursts, rapid-fire roman candles and brightly coloured flares.
The display, which will be accompanied by music from the likes of Elbow, Robbie Williams and Madness, reflects the feelgood factor theme ignited during 2012 by events such as the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee.
Jon Culverhouse, managing director of Fantastic Fireworks is the man behind the display.
An avid firework fan since he was a boy, he began working in the industry 25 years ago.
He said: “I think it’s the choreography of the fireworks to the music which will most impress the audience.
“I always work with the music, not against it, to get the ultimate WOW factor.”
Car parking will be severely limited and alcohol, sparklers, fireworks, shelters or barbeques are not allowed on the site. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
