A FAILSWORTH woman is lucky to be alive after escaping her burning home with seconds to spare.
A fire started in the living room of the 57-year-old victim’s end-terrace house in Piercy Street last night.
The woman had fallen asleep and was woken by her smoke alarm. She managed to crawl to the front door before collapsing.
A passer-by dragged her to safety and she was resuscitated by firefighters before being treated by paramedics.
Watch Commander Andy Turner, from Hollins, said: “A few seconds later and this woman would not have made it. She was very lucky to get out alive.
The woman was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital and put into an induced coma after suffering severe smoke inhalation.
