Planning plea for delayed health centre
Date published: 05 November 2012
A STATE-of-the-art health centre set to open in Shaw last year is still no closer to construction.
Planning permission was granted for the building in Westway in September 2009, but funding problems and parking concerns led to delays.
The company behind the project, Community 1st Oldham Limited, has applied for a time extension on the planning permission. Members of Shaw Parish Council’s planning committee will debate the application tonight.
The three-storey development will be between the community centre and swimming pool.
The proposal includes demolishing the existing health centre in High Street and building a car park and public open space in its place.
