Man struck across head by thug with tyre iron
Police are appealing for information about an attack in which a 31-year-old man was struck three times in the head by a man dressed in a skeleton costume.
The victim was waiting for a taxi on Bradley Fold off St John Street, Lees in the early hours of October 14 when he saw his brother being attacked by a man.
When he went over to help he was hit with a tyre iron by another man and suffered wounds that needed gluing and stitching.
Det-Con Gulnaz Akhtar said: “This man was simply going to his brother’s aid when, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, he was subjected to a vicious assault using a tyre iron. He is fortunate he didn’t sustain more serious injuries.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
