Oldham MEP Chris Davies (58) has proved he can win races as well as elections.
Chris stormed to top spot in the UK over-50s ultra-distance running championships.
The competition, over 12 races of 31-61 miles each counts the best four results of each runner.
The Greenfield resident, a runner since he was 14, won a 56-mile race and took the best time for his age in a 50-mile race.
He not only won the over-50s category but took fifth place overall.
The modest Lib-Dem, a member of Saddleworth Runners, described himself as “just a good club runner.”
He added: “I’ve never had the speed of the great runners but I seem to be able to just keep going when others start to fade.
“It’s what every Liberal Democrat has to do to survive in politics!”
