Trainee chef lands major award

TRAINEE chef Keaton McLure has dished up victory in the Manchester Hoteliers Association Awards.
The awards, the biggest in Europe, rewards unsung heroes in the city’s hospitality sector.
Keaton (19), from Failsworth, a part-time commis chef at the Midland Hotel, won the “emerging new talent” award after being nominated by Manchester College, where he is a professional cookery student.
Keaton received specially commissioned plate at a black-tie New York-themed ball at the newly refurbished Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on Friday.
“I was incredibly honoured to be chosen,” he said. “I love the industry and this is proof that all the time put in to perfecting my skills, the hard work and effort along the way has been worth it. This means everything to me.”
