Conditional discharge for ASBO man
Date published: 09 November 2012
A MAN who breached an anti-social behaviour order only days after it had been imposed was conditionally discharged by Oldham magistrates yesterday.
Darren McCann (39) of Haworth Street, Royton - who has 95 previous offences - was banned from an area inside Oldham town centre by the ASBO, imposed on October 25. On Friday he was arrested after being found in Oldham Library, sheltering while he waited to collect a benefit payment.
Sonya O’Brien, defending, said: police stuck to the letter of the order: “An exercise in common sense did not happen,” she said, explaining that her client had consulted the wrong map about where he was allowed to go within the town centre.
