Oldham Council
OLDHAM has a “fire in its belly” and a new-found confidence, according to the leader of Oldham Council.
Councillor Jim McMahon feels the country’s “most improved” council will become the “best” by 2014.
This is down to ‘risks’ the council and residents have taken over the past year, he explained in his annual statement last night.
He said: “People are seeing a change. We need to take heart from that.
“We have the most successful finance team, we are the winners of Britain in Bloom — the strides that have been made in education and adult social services.
“In 2008 we had the lowest satisfaction record in the country and to get from that place to where we are now is nothing short of staggering.
“We need to keep momentum up and keep the fire in our bellies.”
