It’s all about Jamie!

Signing of the charity status constitution by the 'Jamie's Something Special' committee in memory of gas blast victim Jamie Heaton. Chairman Ian Heath signs watched by left to right, Karina Goulding (secretary), Maureen Goodwin, Andy Goulding (trustees), Sylvia Robinson (founder and Jamie's great aunt), Michelle Heaton (Jamie's mum).
THE charity set up to honour tragic toddler Jamie Heaton officially began taking donations this week.
Committee members from the Jamie’s Something Special Memorial Fund gathered to sign a constitution making their charitable status official.
And along with Jamie’s family, the committee is now urging locals to dig deep, as they embark on a campaign to raise £50,000.
The money will buy brand new play equipment in Bullcote Park, Heyside, where Jamie — killed in the Shaw gas blast in June — took his first steps.
Sylvia Robinson, the two-year-old’s great-aunt who is organising the project, said: “We signed the constitution on Wednesday and now everything is official.
“We can take donations now. We just really hope people will donate whatever they can — any amount!”
The project — named after Jamie’s favourite TV show “Something Special” — will include play equipment for older children.
The family, who lived close to Bullcote Park when Jamie was younger, are also hoping to have a bench installed.
And any money raised which is not needed for the play equipment will be given to autism charities in another tribute to Jamie, who was autistic.
A Christmas fair will also be held at St Mark’s Church, Heyside, on Saturday, December 15, between noon and 4pm.
To sponsor the project or to donate to the fair, Sylvia can be contacted by email on sylviaandgeoff@hotmail.co.uk
