Lamp posts shine during daylight hours on Ambrose Crescent, Diggle.
Yet more residents have been left outraged by the decision to install new lamp-posts across the borough, as the lights in one Saddleworth street have been left to shine for 24 hours a day.
The “energy efficient” lamps should only come on during lighting-up hours.
However, resident in Ambrose Crescent, Diggle, have fumed that the new lamps fitted in their street have burned 24/7 for the eight weeks since they were fitted.
Resident John Askew said of the mystery: “I rang the Oldham and Rochdale lighting board, but they said I needed to speak to E.ON.
Given up
“I’ve rung E.ON every week for the last six weeks and nothing has been done. I’ve given up.
“At the end of the day, we’re being told about conserving energy but E.ON obviously wants to keep on burning it. Everybody in the street is annoyed.
“Somebody’s having to pay the bill and clearly that’s us, the ratepayers.”
E.ON was approached for comment but didn’t respond.
