A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was found stabbed in a house in Sholver today.
The body of the 48-year-old was discovered by officers after a call was made to the ambulance service at 12.15am.
The man, who had stab wounds to his chest, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three men aged 57, 39, and 32 and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
Det Supt Alex Millett, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life.
“We are now in the early stages of a detailed investigation and we are determined to establish exactly what happened.
“It is understandable that people are concerned about what has happened, but I want to reassure the community that we have already made a number of arrests and the investigation is progressing.”
Extra police officers have been drafted into the area and the house, in Coleridge Road, has been sealed off.
