POLICE who innocently wanted to spell a man’s name searched his wallet for ID and found cannabis.
Gediminas Karpavicius (21) of Chester Street, Werneth, was being treated by ambulance staff for a cut finger when officers asked him for his details. Unable to get the correct spelling of his name, they checked his wallet and pulled out a £10 bag of drugs.
When asked by Oldham magistrates, Karpavicius told them he was “guilty, probably” but that he didn’t remember how the drugs got there. He was ordered to pay a total of £259.
