Cllr Shoab Akhtar and Susan Wildman (TfGM) and Santa herald the cut-price travel on Metro.
OLDHAM Council and Metrolink have teamed up to launch travel offers aimed at bringing more visitors to Oldham town centre this festive season.
This weekend, two adults can travel together for the price of one and up to three children can go completely free of charge when travelling with a full-fare-paying adult.
Councillor Shoab Akhtar, Oldham Council’s Cabinet member for business, skills and town centre, and Susan Wildman, director of communications and customer services at Transport for Greater Manchester, launched the initiative at Metrolink’s Oldham Mumps stop.
Councillor Akhtar said: “Oldham boasts a great retail and leisure offer and with our programme of festive events we aim to encourage as many new people as possible to come to the town to see what we’re all about.”
Susan Wildman said: “Our regional centres have a distinct and varied retail offer and we hope that our great buy-one get-one-free travel offer encourages more people to visit Oldham for a spot of shopping, to have a meal or enjoy a show in the run-up to Christmas.”
