Don’t miss out on cheaper fuel bills

MORE than 7,600 households have now registered for Oldham Council’s ‘Power to the People’ Energy Switching scheme — with only two days to go before the deadline.

Collective switching allows large groups of customers to choose the best rate by changing tariff together at the same time with the bulk-buying campaign creating savings of up to £200 off energy bills.

It’s the UK’s biggest local authority-led scheme of its type and residents still have until 11pm on Sunday to sign-up.

The scheme is open to anyone. You do not have to live in Oldham to benefit.

With time running out, residents can still find out more — and sign-up under no obligation — by doing one of three things:

l Visit the Oldham Council website and fill in the form online at www.oldham.gov.uk/fairenergy

l Pop along to one of three final sign-up events taking place before Sunday’s deadline at: Lees Library today (11am-2pm), Unit 6, Tommyfield Market tomorrow (11am-2pm).

l Call 0161-770 666 between 9am and 5pm (weekdays) or 9am to 1pm (Saturday only).

Councillor Arooj Shah, assistant cabinet member at Oldham Council, said: “The response to Power to the People has been fantastic — but time is now running out.

“In these final days we’re reminding anyone who hasn’t already signed up to please ensure you do it before Sunday’s 11pm deadline — don’t miss out.

The Power to the People group will go to auction with energy firms on Monday.
